We have undertaken public works as part of planning application agreements with local town councils over the years. As part of the permissions, it may be required that you reinstate a public road due to damage that will inevitably be caused by the construction process during your build.
Or perhaps regulations have changed and an old sceptic tank, that was once acceptable, now needs to be demolished and the sewage connected directly to the mains sewer.
This project had to be completed for the reasons listed above.
We excavated the old septic tank and driveway to allow us to connect this houses sewage directly to the mains sewer. Whilst we were at it, we also directed all of the rainwater from the property’s roof into the separate rainwater drainage system in Tamariu.
We installed a large syphon to stop any bad smells travelling back up the drains and into the property, with a manhole big enough to comfortably get inside and unblock the syphon should you ever need to – although three years on, and I have never heard of our client needing to do this!
As per council regulations, we also had to install a new manhole in the road, where we made the new connection into the mains sewer for future inspections.
Before we started, the driveway was a disaster, as it was all old, broken up tarmac, which meant that cars getting traction on it was somewhat difficult. The new concrete driveway is a great solution and the light grey against the beautiful white walls is quite the contrast, even if I do say so myself!
This was an urgent call out to a client’s house one weekend, due to a burst water main. Fortunately the local plant rental shop was open on a Saturday morning, so we went straight to work.
Like anything we do, we feel a belt and braces approach is the best one when it comes to future-proofing all of our installations.
This leak was due to the mains water pipe not being encased in a trench of sand and stones eroding the pipe over time.
Sadly, not a standard practise when it comes to water pipes, but we like to put all of our subterraneanly installed water and electrical installations in conduits to protect the pipes / cables over time, and then also encase these in a fine substrate such as sand so as there is no chance of any stones coming into contact with the conduits.
We then stitched the driveway back together so as you would barely even know we had been there!
